Thermon hosted the first meeting in 2011 of the United States National Committee (USNC) of the International Electrotechnical Commission, Technical Management Committee and Council on 19 & 20 January at its corporate headquarters in San Marcos, Texas.
Founded in 1906, the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the world’s leading organization for the preparation and publication of International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. These are known collectively as “electrotechnology”. The U.S. National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (USNC/IEC) serves as the focal point for U.S. parties who are interested in the development, promulgation and use of globally-relevant standards for the electotechnical industry. The Committee is also engaged in the assessment of conformance to standards, undertaking work in areas such as testing, certification and accreditation.
The meeting was lead by President Philip M. Piqueira of General Electric Co., Vice President Technical Alec McMillan, of Rockwell Automation and Vice President Finance Lori L. Tennant of Schneider-Electric North American Square D Co. Attendees were welcomed by Ben Johnson, Senior Consultant for Thermon. Approximately 40 members and officers of the USNC governance group attended.
When we introduced our Terminator line of connection kits, we set the bar of innovation high. The Terminator Beacon end-of-circuit light raises the bar even higher.
End of circuit lights are used to give visual indication that the circuit is energized. Heat tracing circuits often terminate at inaccessible and inconvenient locations. It is an advantage to have a light that can be seen day or night from virtually any location. The “Beacon” has this capability. Our “Beacon” has 32 LED’s and gives superior viewing, day or night, from virtually any vantage point.
Our Terminator DL and ZL kits use a single DIN rail mounted LED. We always felt we could do better. We challenged our R&D group to develop an end of circuit light that was unique and cost effective.
They embraced the challenge and developed the Terminator “Beacon” DE-B and ZE-B end of circuit light.
Heat tracing systems around the world basically operate on (5) standard voltages. Having the correct end of circuit light in stock can be expensive and a logistics nightmare. The “Beacon” operates on every voltage from 100 to 277 volts. If you have it in stock it will work with your heat tracing system.
It is easy to assemble. Requires only a few tools, all of which are commonly used during heat tracing installations.
